Description

Director of Operations Focus on proactive planning, goal setting & direction in support of its goals as well as eliminating any productivity barriers.  Responsible for “moving the needle”, managing resources, developing & implementing an operational plan & ensuring that effective procedures are carried out properly. Develop & measure progress through metrics & tangible goals.  Formulating & enforcing policies for org. sustainability growth & managing daily operations of mid-level management personnel.  The impact of this role is to improve operational efficiency throughout the organization while balancing our strong culture. Create team consensus & unity when setting goals or resolving conflicts. Coach, train, discipline & communicate company objectives. Implement staffing strategies & develop collaborative relationships across the company.  Provide strong leadership skills, great communication skills, organizational abilities & high motivation

Travel

Travel is required approximately 10% of the job.

Travel is anticipated for this position, typically within a 400-mile radius of the metropolitan Milwaukee area.  Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.  Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversight of managers & members
  • Develop & monitor dept. & cross-functional metrics & goals
  • Responsible for co. ERP system, completeness, accuracy & effectiveness
  • Ensure that policies are adhered to or provide safe & profitable alternative paths
  • Work closely with other department (business area) directors
  • Develop & oversee PM, Production, Shipping & Receiving, Service & Parts
  • Generate & maintain capacity planning methods
  • Liaising with department heads to develop plans & ensure company-wide operational compliance
  • Evaluate & improve systems & processes to effectively meet project requirements & profitability goals
  • Ensuring safety & quality measures
  • Identify & build business needs, staffing concepts, actionable plans with SMART goals
  • Reduce costs in production & manufacturing
  • Optimize business workflows & seek efficiencies on a regular basis
  • Maximize production rates without compromising quality

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and execute on processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, Teams, etc.
  • Self-motivated and flexible attitude

General Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or BA in equivalent discipline
  • 3-5 years experience in operations / general management
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous customer service or sales experience.
  • Extensive experience managing people & teams
  • Ability to identify weak spots in a process to improve efficiency – & then execute
  • Great planning & project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task & balance critical priorities
  • Team player that is a highly disciplined, problem-solver with a strong work ethic
  • Make a difference within the company, contributing to the overall organization.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color determination, and adjustment of focus.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.

  • Occasionally required to bend, twist, climb, kneel and balance.

  • Occasionally required to use hands to grasp, reach and operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • Occasional exposure to a production environment

  • Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
