Viking Masek Announces Second Phase of Expansion of Wisconsin Facility

From its humble beginnings as an operation with a workforce of less than 10 employees, Viking Masek has grown to become a premier international packaging equipment manufacturer, boasting a staff of over 50 employees today at its United States headquarters in Wisconsin. The company has seen an unprecedented surge in demand for its packaging machinery over the past few years, and has responded by expanding its current facility to accommodate the growth. Viking Masek is pleased to officially announce the second phase of their Oostburg, WI facility expansion.

HMK_7060.jpgAt about this time a year ago, Viking Masek officially announced the kick-off of their Oostburg, WI facility expansion project with news of plans to add 18,000 square feet of production and warehousing space to their current facility. This project was completed in early 2016 and currently houses 17 additional offices, an extra loading dock, and a much needed increase in square footage for storage of equipment and parts.

As the summer of 2016 comes to a close, Viking Masek has officially broken ground for the second phase of their expansion project, this time adding a dedicated 'sales wing' to the southwest corner of the building. With the Oostburg, WI facility being its packaging equipment sales hub for North and South America, space is currently at a premium, with many sharing already limited office space. With the increased demand for their packaging solutions, hiring of additional staff was necessary, with the company experiencing an increase of 35% in their workforce in 2015 and adding another 25% in the first half of 2016 alone.

Company Vice-President Robb Leonhard says of the expansion: "When I look back on how much we've grown in the past few years, I am truly thankful. We simply would not be embarking on the second phase of this expansion if not for our family of dedicated employees."

The new sales wing will house 16 offices and shared workspaces, another conference room, and a brand new customer lounge area, complete with comfortable furniture and a coffee bar. "With more and more clients visiting us at our facility here in Oostburg, we need the additional space for meetings, conferences, and just a place for our clients to unwind after a day of talking packaging," comments CFO RC Huhn. "We're really excited to see the customer lounge area take shape."
