Diamond Pet Foods Case Study

Something to bark about

The Challenge

Diamond Pet Foods of Gaston, South Carolina is one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of super-premium dog and cat foods. The company was looking for a bagging solution that would provide packaging to support the company’s goal of growing its worldwide customer base of top breeders, kennel owners, sporting enthusiasts, and family pet owners.

Our Approach

Diamond Pet Foods was particularly interested in finding a packaging solution that had the flexibility to form a wide variety of bag styles, including sample bags – a size that was very important to Diamond’s marketing strategy.

In addition, the company needed a machine that would fit into the company’s available production floor space and that required very little training time for the machine operators.

We selected the Viking M250 to meet their needs. The M250 offers the flexibility of open modular design. It’s fast action stepper jaw boasts 100 bags per minute with bag lengths of up to 15.75 inches in a single stroke.

Plus, the M250 offers the flexibility to form a wide range of bag styles including pillow, gusseted, 3 side seal, flat bottom, and Doypack.

The Viking Masek Solution

Diamond Pet Foods’ M250 fit easily into the company’s production floor.

In addition, the customer reports that Viking Masek’s “outstanding job” training provided the team with the skills needed to efficiently run the machine.

Diamond also appreciates the flexibility of the M250, as it is now able to produce sample bags, which were in high demand.

The company’s production/safety manager stated, “I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a form fill and seal bagger that doesn’t have much time to train. It is a great machine which is easily set up to run.”
