As you stroll down the grocery aisles you’ve likely noticed some exciting changes being made to your everyday packaged goods. What once was a blah row of cans and bags has transformed into aesthetically appealing, flexible, sustainable, uniquely sealed and packaged goods. Innovations in packaging technologies have advanced in many areas, giving the consumer the experience they have come to expect in a fast-paced, modern world.Viking-Masek-Innovations-Packaging.jpg

The Discovery Channel has for many years been a leader in highlighting companies that are taking innovation and thought leadership to new heights. Needless to say, we were both honored and excited when the Discovery Channel Innovations team wanted to highlight Viking Masek for the work we’re doing. Who would think a packaging manufacturer from a small town in Wisconsin would have such an exciting opportunity to be in the national spotlight as an industry leader in this upcoming series?

There was a noticeable buzz in the air as Rick Leonhard (President), Robb Leonhard (Vice President), RC Huhn (CFO), and Scott Miller (Operations Manager) gave the film crew informative interviews about the company’s history, breakthroughs in packaging technologies in Form Fill Seal packaging machines, and our company culture which contributes to our success and ability to innovate. Viking-Masek-Cedar-Valley-Cheese-Process.jpeg

After the interviews our rugged product line of custom packaging machines were filmed up close and personal. Seeing the stick pack machine, Velocity bagger, and a super-fast versatile bagger in action should make for exciting film.

Also featured in this episode is a customer and neighboring business, Cedar Valley Cheese (Belgium, WI), who use our VFFS M400 to bag shredded cheese for consumers. Cedar Valley Cheese processes over 141,000 gallons of milk into cheese a day. Now that's a lot of cheese. The process starts with giant blocks of cheese, cutting them down, shredding them, perfectly measuring and neatly sealing each bag. The reliability and speed of the machine increases production and profitability, while reducing waste. Industry by industry we help our customers achieve their goals and overcome their custom packaging challenges as if they were our own.

Viking Masek is continuously developing new machines and technology so we’re very proud to have those efforts recognized. We look forward to watching this episode on The Discovery Channel in the near future and we hope you can join us. We'll keep you posted when it airs and save you a seat!
