Coffee professionals, unite! The Specialty Coffee Association of America is bringing its 28th annual Expo to Atlanta, GA from April 14 to 17, 2016 at the Georgia World Congress Center. Last year 12,184 total guests attended the Expo, and 2016 promises to be another stellar year! Viking Masek will be exhibiting with our innovative coffee packaging machinery at the Expo at booth #537.

As the largest gathering of coffee professionals in the world and with over 400 companies exhibiting, The Specialty Coffee Assocation of America's Expo is the place to be for those in the coffee industry. From networking events to SCAA Pathway classes and lectures to coffee films and pop-up cafes, the Expo has something for everyone. New this year is Uppers & Downers, a unique new space exploring the shared parallels between craft coffee and craft beer.

Important in all markets, but especially near and dear to the coffee industry is sustainability. In partnership with BUNN, the SCAA has launched a Sustainable Event Strategy Initiative for the Expo. Waste receptacles will have 3 bins that will help separate trash into recyclables, compostables, and general waste items. In an effort to reduce waste created by signage, wherever possible the SCAA will utilize sustainable digital signage rather than printed banners. In keeping with the digital initiative, the SCAA will apply solutions to reduce paper waste created from flyers by utilizing digital media and mobile app outreach. Do your part and download the SCAA app to go paperless during the show!

Coffee_collage-1.jpgAt Viking Masek's booth #537, our innovative coffee packaging machinery will be live, packaging coffee right in front of your eyes. The Rotary Premade Pouch Machine VM-8S-235 is always popular at trade shows, with it's small footprint and innovative rotary design. This machine utilizes premade coffee bags; grasping them, opening the bags, filling them, and then sealing the bags shut before depositing them on an outfeed conveyor. Premade bags are a hot trend right now for their clean, polished look and attention grabbing shelf presence. There are also eco-consious options for materials used in creating these bags, including compostable or recyclable materials and soy or water based inks.

Also in Viking Masek's booth will be the versatile and best-selling VFFS M250. This mechanically driven vertical form fill seal machine is perfect for coffee applications. From bulk fills of coffee into standard pillow bags to quad seal or flat bottom retail bags, this machine can be configured to do it all. Also available in a bag-in-bag configuration, this packaging solution can accommodate fractional packs. With minimal maintenance requirements and no-tool-changeover, coffee producers can be assured of minimal downtime, which means more time spent bringing your specialty coffee to your loyal fans.
